FAQs

  • The Summer Intensive will be taught in eight sessions, taking place Mondays thru Thursdays, from August 11th - 21st.

Each session will be held between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM, and divided into three classes.

  • Summary
The three classes will cover important topics related to understanding Islamic and Western civilizations, highlighting our sacred Islamic tradition as a solution to many of the societal problems experienced in a Western-dominated world, and as a guiding light towards eternal success.

    Islamic Creed
Our creed defines who we are as Muslims and impacts our morals, actions, ideals and thought. This class covers a brief introduction into the beliefs every Muslim must subscribe to about the nature of God and the sending of Messengers to guide Mankind. We will also give a brief history of Islamic Creedal thought and the impact this caused on a civilizational level. In addition, some classes will be compare and contrast sessions, in how Islamic thought impacted a society compared to Western thought.

    Etiquette of Fellowship
Imam Ghazali wrote the Etiquettes of Fellowship almost a thousand years ago, and the truth of his message still rings strongly to this day. A part of his magnus opus, Ihya Ulum al Din, Imam Ghazali presents his theory of the ideal Muslim society and how our Islam impacts our civilization, values and morals. Here, we will be exploring how the Islamic social system of etiquette and sincerity continues to bind Muslims together and weaves a safeguard to protect Muslims from falling into social disarray. Care will be made to highlight unique aspects of Islamic societal life, enriched with anecdotes from Muslim history.

    Western Intellectual History
This course will follow the celebrated work, The Passion of the Western Mind, covering over 2000 years of Western intellectual history, and laying out a roadmap to understand the historical context of the world we live in today. We will journey through this history and point out differences in conclusions the Western mind had to life’s most critical questions, in comparison to the Divine Revelation the Muslims enjoyed. This class will teach us “where” we are and perhaps why we think the way we do.
